Our primary goal is to provide our customers with the healthiest possible lawn using the least amounts of fertilizers and chemicals. We use a slow-release, organic-based dry granular fertilizer with microbial additives that aid in the fertilizer's efficiency– This allows us to use up to 30% less than with conventional fertilizers, but with the same results! To further reduce the use of chemicals, we will no longer apply a pre-emergent crabgrass control to an entire lawn, but rather spot treat crabgrass with a post-emergent product. Appropriate broadleaf weed control will be addressed as needed. Typical fertilization programs consist of 4 applications throughout the year, however, each lawn presents unique needs that will be addressed individually by licensed and state certified professionals.
The first application of fertilizer for the year jump starts a spring green-up and aids in the recovery of winter damage. If needed a post-emergent crabgrass and/or broadleaf weed control will be applied to only those specific areas where weeds are present.
This application of fertilizer is to promote healthy growth of turf and prepare it for the summer. The healthier the turf, the more able it will be able to withstand environmental stresses of drought and heat.
Addressing your lawns vigor and color is the main goal of a summer application. Broadleaf weeds will be spot-treated as necessary.
Fall fertilization, before October 1st, is geared to aid in lawn recovery from the summer stresses and prepare the lawn for winter dormancy.
We will inspect your lawn for possible insect and disease issues and advise you on the best course of action. In an effort to reduce the use of pesticides, we employ Integrated Pest Management tools to manage diseases, insects and weeds at their most vulnerable stage.
IPM Principles include scouting, cultural management tools, proper pest identification and pest life-cycle as well as plant host identification and diagnosis, and finally, treatment options. IPM stresses the importance of utilizing the least possible amounts of pesticides and chemicals, and is dependent upon identifying your action threshold- economic, health or aesthetic.
Fungal, bacterial and viral diseases can reduce growth of or destroy your turfgrass. Abiotic conditions may also contribute to these issues and often, simple cultural practices will cure the problem. We will help you identify and offer disease management as needed.
Most insects, such as lady beetles and bees in a landscape are actually beneficial, and the use of pesticides will damage these beneficial populations, so utilizing the principles of IPM are an important tool. We will scout for possible insects and damage throughout the growing season so we can manage them before they become a risk. If populations are damaging, the best course of action is to know the lifecycle and biology of the pest, and focus in on the most vulnerable life stage for treatment.
Weeds compete for real estate, nutrients and water, thus reducing the vigor and density of turfgrass. We only spot treat weed populations as needed.

Core aeration is a natural way to improve the health of your lawn. Aeration is the process of removing plugs of turf, thatch, roots and soil, leaving them on the lawn and allowing them to break down in a week or two. The removal of the cores is beneficial for many reasons. The voids left allow for better penetration of water and oxygen to the root zone, alleviate soil compaction, and the plugs that break down create an organic matter topdressing and feed beneficial microorganisms in the soil. We recommend that aeration be done annually, in the spring or fall when the ground is moist, and should be followed with overseeding in some situations.
Improving soil health is a key goal in our Go Green! and Organic Lawn Care programs. Organic compost topdressing will help build soil health and structure and supply beneficial microorganisms.
Overseeding with the appropriate seed mixture for differing conditions will help increase your turf stand which naturally shades out weeds.
